Maya Peitersen arbetar främst med installationer, skulpturer och performance men också med video och text, teckning och grafik. När hon gör installationer bygger hon allt själv. Småfelen som kan uppstå är viktiga och hon arbetar gärna med det fragila och det porösa. Hon berättar att hon tycker om när verket bestå av olika delar, att sammanfoga olika delar till en större helhet och att det finns små brister. Hon  kombinerar gärna de olika medier hon arbetar i, till exempel använder hon sina rumsliga objekt och texter i sina performances och videos och kan göra en performance i en installation. Peitersen arbetar mycket med mentala tillstånd. Överlappande uppfattningar av verklighet och vad som är verkligt, om något är verkligt eller inte och existentiella frågor intresserar henne. Hon berättar hur hennes verk knyter an till surrealismen och det psykadeliska.

Verket som Peitersen gör under workshopen har titeln Det spredte rodnet af forgiftede planter i din nærradius. Det består av olika delar, olika igenkännbara kroppsdelar, som är förvrängda. Verken har bara en framsida eller baksida och delarna ska placeras på olika ställen i landskapet. De blir som utspridda landmärken. Hon vill skildra ett kaos, den mentala uppsprängningen.

Maya Peitersen works mainly with installations, sculpture and performance art, but also with video and text, drawing and printmaking. When doing installations, she builds everything herself. Small mistakes play an important part, and she is happy to work on fragile, porous pieces. She describes how she likes her works to consist of different parts that she joins together to make a larger whole, and she welcomes small imperfections.

She also likes to combine the various media she works in. She may for instance use her spatial objects and texts in her performancesand videos, and she may include a performance in an installation. Peitersen often reflects on people’s mental states. She is interested in overlapping perceptions of reality and what is real, whether something is real or not, and existential questions. She describes how her work is connected with surrealism and the psychedelic. The work that Peitersen created during the workshop was entitled “The roots of poisoned plants spread to your neighbourhood”. It comprisesa range of different pieces, recognisable as body parts, that are distorted or twisted. Each piece has only a front or a back and the pieces are designed to be scattered around the landscape. The aim is to portray chaos, a mental explosion or dismemberment.
